In August the focus is on Women.

On 9 August 1956, 20 000 women participated in a national march in protest of pass laws . Women of all races and ages who got together from all over South Africa and marched on the Pretoria Union Buildings. A battle won and celebrated…

But let’s delve into the women we are and the demands of modern day-life. We lead very busy lives being wives, sisters, daughters, mothers, friends, co-workers, bosses etc. It’s a non-stop lifestyle and we rarely come up for air.

It’s important to practice some self-care so we don’t end up burning the candle on both ends and becoming susceptible to fatigue & poor health.

Here are some ideas for practicing self-care

PHYSICAL

go for a walk

dance

hike

get a hug

play with a pet

clean & reorganise your room

MENTAL

read a book

take up a new hobby

get creative with art, cooking, DIY etc

switch off digital technology

EMOTIONAL

Meditate

practice yoga

talk with a friend

go on a date

journal

Remember, you cannot pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.

Happy Women’s Day!

Yours in good health
