It’s probably one of our toughest Winter yet. The 3rd wave of Covid has hit hard and level 4 lockdown has been implemented once more. If you haven’t yet tested positive for Covid, you likely know a friend or family member who has.

There’s never been a better time to be boosting our immune and listening to our body. Here are some top tips.

  • Eat antioxidant, whole plant foods – fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes
  • Eat healthy fats – olive oil, oily fish (salmon, trout, tuna, sardines)
  • Eat fermented foods or a probiotic – yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir
  • Add garlic, ginger, cayenne pepper and ginger to your diet
  • Limit or avoid added sugars – processed foods, biscuits, cake
  • Stay hydrated – Rooibos and herbal teas count as your water intake.
  • Sleep – 7 or more hours of sleep each night is ideal
  • Moderate exercise – walking, cycling, jogging, hiking
  • Manage your stress levels – meditation, yoga, exercise
  • Mind over matter – try to stay positive
  • Find reasons to laugh

In Winter, there’s nothing like soup to warm the soul and make you feel good. Hands down, Ginger and Garlic Broth is a firm favourite of mine. Click here for the recipe. You won’t regret it.  p.s, You can add some shredded cooked chicken and noodles to make it more filling.
